They are more like a human than a human.
In the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.
Blade Runner is a 1982 American neo-noir dystopian science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford,Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos. The screenplay, written by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples, is a modified film adaptation of the 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?byPhilip K. Dick.
The film depicts Los Angeles in November 2019, in which genetically engineered replicants, which are visually indistinguishable from adult humans, are manufactured by the powerful Tyrell Corporation as well as by other “mega-corporations” around the world. The use of replicants on Earth is banned and they are exclusively utilized for dangerous or menial work on off-world colonies. Replicants who defy the ban and return to Earth are hunted down and killed (“retired”) by special police operatives known as “Blade Runners”. The plot focuses on a desperate group of recently escaped replicants hiding in Los Angeles and the burnt-out expert Blade Runner, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who reluctantly agrees to take on one more assignment to hunt them down.
// Whenever I see a kind of Sci-Fi movie like chappie, blade runner, there are times when sometimes robots are more like a human than a human. So, I thought that what if a robot make a decision by itself in the war. If it happens, the robot can stop the killing innocent people on the battlefield, because they can know whether they should shoot the gun or not. Or what if the robot can feel human feeling, so they can vibe on human feeling.
However, Tobia said it is more of Sci-Fi,design fiction is different with science fiction. So, I researched on the difference between design fiction and science fiction.
science fiction is defined that “It’s axiomatic, in literary criticism of Science Fiction (such as it is), to assume that Sci-Fi is written as a conscious metaphor for current questions. That is, Science Fiction uses speculation about the future as a way of analyzing the present, the here and now.”
Also, It explained on design fiction that “Design Fiction uses the techniques of fiction and drama to ‘test’ the future, to see what future technologies or systems might work, and how they might be received and what their impact might be, or to present a series of alternative possible futures and see which path might be preferable. But whereas the material of speculative fiction is words and ideas, Design Fiction actually uses prototype objects and devices in the ‘real world’ to see how they might be utilised or how people might respond to new designs or tools or scenarios.”
As mentioned above this, Design fiction needs to suggest something to people by speculating the future with Sci-Fi movies and novels. That is why my initial idea was close to Sci-Fi, and it needed to be more of a speculative design as an interaction designer, whereupon I changed the main story of speculative design.
